In his designs, glass gains verticality and character through fluted stems, clean geometries and carefully balanced proportions. Form is not added to function as an ornament: it emerges directly from the way the object must be produced, held and brought to the lips. Fuerst thus demonstrates that even a mass-produced glass can possess a distinct identity and stand the test of time without becoming a mere relic of the past.
