Cinghiale Sangiovese 2019 CasaSmith
The 2019 Cinghiale Sangiovese by VINO CasaSmith is made in Washington State from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the region's most suitable vineyards. James Smith, the winery's founder, chose to exalt an Italian grape variety in American soil, resulting in a red wine of great character that combines Mediterranean character with the freshness of the Pacific Northwest terroir.
In the glass, it displays a deep and brilliant ruby red, with dense tears that hint at its consistency. On the nose, it offers a rich and intense bouquet: blueberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, and mulberry, enriched with spicy notes, toasted wood, tobacco, and barrique that complete its aromatic complexity.
The palate is dry, structured, and powerful, with a creamy and velvety texture, supported by a pronounced acidity that lends freshness and drinkability. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, while the long, persistent finish recalls dark fruits and sweet spices.
Vinified with temperature-controlled fermentation in small barrels and aged in French oak, the Cinghiale Sangiovese expresses a balance between intensity, elegance, and modernity.
Perfectly served at 15-18°C, it pairs well with rich dishes such as penne alla arugula, grilled meats, veal with beans, stuffed peppers, or spicy dishes. Recognized by international critics, it has received 92 points from James Suckling, 91 from Robert Parker, and 91 from Jeb Dunnuck, confirming it as one of the finest examples of Sangiovese grown outside of Italy.
