Selva Delle Monache Rosé Costa D'Amalfi DOC 2024 Cantina Ettore Sammarco
The Selva delle Monache Rosato Costa d’Amalfi DOC 2024 from Cantina Ettore Sammarco originates from the picturesque terraced vineyards of Ravello and Scala, the heart of the most renowned subzone of the Amalfi Coast. It is produced from a typical local blend of 60% Piè di Rosso (Per’ e’ Palummo) and 40% Aglianico, two varietals that, thanks to the medium-textured volcanic soils and altitude between 360 and 400 meters above sea level, express surprising freshness and complexity.
The harvest, carried out by hand in the second ten days of October, involves picking the grapes into small crates to preserve the integrity of the bunches. This is followed by maceration on the skins for approximately 12 hours, which gives the wine its characteristic pink color tending towards cherry, as well as a rich and fragrant aromatic profile. Aged for 3 months in stainless steel with frequent bâtonnages, a technique that gives the wine greater structure and complexity while maintaining its pleasant freshness.
The nose reveals fruity notes of small red berries and delicate floral scents, while on the palate it is fresh, balanced, and harmonious, with an elegant and persistent finish that recalls the typicality of the Amalfi Coast.
Versatile in pairing, it pairs effortlessly with appetizers, white meats, grilled fish, seafood soups, and is particularly pleasant with pizza. Produced in limited quantities and intended primarily for restaurants and wine bars, it represents a distinctive rosé, capable of expressing the history and beauty of the pergola vineyards of the Amalfi Coast in every sip.
