Andrea Picchioni's 2024 Bonarda Vivace ‘Ipazia’ is a sparkling red wine from the Oltrepò Pavese area, made from 100% Croatina grapes grown according to certified organic farming. The vineyards, located on the steep, sandy-pebbly soils of the Solinga Valley, have a full south exposure, guaranteeing highly expressive grapes. After manual harvesting, alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks with 4-5 days of maceration, followed by aging in steel and secondary fermentation in an autoclave with indigenous yeasts, according to the Charmat Method.
The result is a lively, smooth, and vivacious red, perfect for immediate consumption. In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of morello cherry, violet, black cherry, raspberry, and a hint of musk. On the palate, it captivates with its freshness, liveliness, and lightness, with a fruity and persistent aftertaste.
A tribute to the philosopher Hypatia, a symbol of intelligence and freedom, this wine embodies the authentic spirit of the region. Ideal between 12° and 14°C in a medium-mouthed glass, it is the perfect companion for cured meats, rustic dishes, and spontaneous conviviality.
